To become a tester for Microsoft Office 2010 you have to take a survey in order to qualify as a beta tester. The survey is titled as Microsoft Office Technical Beta Nomination. When you enter this page you will see a message like "Space is very limited and all nominations will be evaluated on a first come, fist server basis". This means the "vacancies" are limited.
After you have successfully completed the survey you will see a message which tells that you will be contacted in July 2009 with an information status about your nomination. So as you have just submitted your application the status will be pending. Once you are approved your status will be Active.
