You might have noticed the balloon tips that appears in the desktop notification area. These tips are useful at times, while they are annoying at some other times. We can remove this option from Windows XP using a simple registry editing.

1. Type "regedit" in the Run dialog box.
2. Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced".
3. Find the option that says "EnableBallonTips".
4. Double click on it and change its value to 0.
Note:If you cannot find this option simply create a new DWORD Value named EnableBallonTips and then change its value to 0. To re-enable the option change the value to 1.
